Model 50SL High-Temperature Viscometer Part No. 37869
The Model 50SL High-Temperature Viscometer is a rotational viscometer designed for testing fluids at temperatures to 500°(260°) and pressures to 1,000 PSIG (7,000kPa) in a coaxial cylinder chamber. Heating, pressurization and rotor speed are controlled by input from specialized software.
Viscosities at various rates of shear, time dependent properties, change caused by continued shearing and temperature effects are determined quickly and accurately. The Model 50SL is ideal for general rheology characterization, including determining the high temperature stability of drilling fluids.
Shear stress, shear rate, rotor speed, pressure, bath/sample temperature are displayed and/or simultaneously recorded. Data outputs are readily converted to the U.S. customary system, or to cgs or Sl metric systems. Shear stress with the standard spring provides 4,000 dynes/cm2, full scale, in five selectable ranges down to 200 dynes/cm2. Shear rates up to 1,024 sec-1 are obtained with the standard rotor and bob. Other torsion springs or bobs are available.
CONTROL AND DATA ACQUISITION
The RCO (Remote Control Option) consist of hardware and software designed to allow a single IBM Compatible Personal Computer to control up to four Model 50 Viscometers. The unique copyrighted software is optimized for use with drilling fluids and fracturing fluids. The viscometers are controlled digitally, using RS-485 serial communications. This allows for total automation of the viscometer by the operator. A “JOG” button, located on the RCO unit allows for low speed rotation of the rotor to facilitate sample loading. After the sample has been loaded and the bath is raised for testing, all control of the rheometer is accomplished via computer and the special software.
